|semper_||03:23 pm - Ancient and Medieval History Program|
I am planning to apply to U of C - but not just yet; I'm aiming for fall entry 2009. I'm interested in the Ancient and Medieval History program. Is there anyone here who has completed the program or who is currently enrolled in it? I would like to know what you think about it. Did you/are you enjoying it? What do like about the program? What don't you like about it? That sort of thing.
Thanks in advance.

|jav_lj||11:30 am - UCalgary Chatroom|
Being part of the UofC communtiy now for some time, I noticed that there isn't really any UofC-related chatroom anywhere (or is there?). So I figured I'll start this little experiment and create a UCalgary chatroom! :-) Since all Livejournal accounts are Jabber accounts by default, a Jabber groupchat seemed like a good choice. So if you have your Jabber clients ready, join the freshly created UCalgary groupchat at email@example.com ! :-)
If you have no idea what Jabber is: LilveJournal has a (rather short) help page about it: http://www.livejournal.com/chat/. I would suggest getting the excellent Jabber-Client Psi (at http://psi-im.org/), logging in with your Livejournal account and then using the feature 'Join groupchat' and enter:
and join! :-)
I'm curious about how this experiment works out and hope to see a few of you in the groupchat! :-)

|bunnygoeshop||11:24 pm - Law School|
I'm currently at Glendon College of York University. I was thinking of applying to UofCalgary for law this year, for 2008 entry. I'm starting my third year this fall and I won't have completed a degree by 2008. If anyone here applied to UofCalgary without an undergrad or is currently in the law school and could tell me a bit more about it that would be lovely.
Thank you very much.

Just wondering if anyone could tell me whether or not the UofC has any courses dealing with Nutrition. If it does, an idea on where to find info about it would be helpful.

|jav_lj||11:41 pm - Exchange student|
I'm a student from Germany (Computer science at the University of Oldenburg) and I plan to stay for one year at the University of Calgary as an exchange student. I'm currently looking at housing. I guess I'll stay in the UofC's residence complex. Looking through the application form, I noticed that one can give a 'hall preference' and choose among Brewster Hall, Cascade, Norquay Hall and Olympus Hall. Does it make a big difference which one you choose? Is there a hall which one should prefer? I was hoping the community might give me some 'insider information'. :-)
PS: I'm not (yet?) very active on LiveJournal and especially don't use the jabber address they provide. But I can be reached on my normal jabber address which is firstname.lastname@example.org . Feel free to add me, but keep in mind, that my timezone is GMT + 1 . :-)

|cdnangil||11:40 am - UofC Med and GRST programs|
I'm sure you guys have heard the negative vibe that the UofC has going for the medical program there. Can anyone tell me what it is about it that gives it such a bad rep?
It won't really affect my decision to move back to Calgary for school come fall, but I'm curious to know what exactly the deal is.
Also, if anyone has anything to say about the Greek and Roman Studies program there I'd love to hear it! (ie: profs to avoid/try to get, classes to avoid/take, personal experiences, etc)

|michika||12:06 am - Clarify the confusion?|
Has anyone applied for admission to the UofC after completing another undergraduate degree at another institution? Can you tell me about the process? Anything you would recommend I do before or while applying?
I am hoping for September 2007 admission, or deferred admission to January 2008 as I will finish my last class on August 15th. I am aware that I have to ask for a letter from my current institution to inform the UofC that I have completed all my degree requirements and am only waiting for the formalities of convocation.
As well can anyone tell me what they think about the B.Sc program, specifically BioSci? What about the BHSc through medicine?

I just decided on the UofC for school in the fall (maybe a web-based course over the summer), so I thought I'd join up!
I know that rent prices in Calgary have sky-rocketed since I moved out at the end of 2004, so I'm considering the possibility of living in res for the first year - which I'll avoid if I can.
back in March/04 I was in a brutal car accident on the #2 (darn flying station wagons'll get you every time!) and managed to break my neck and back in a total of 6 places, amongst other amazing feats! This means I have chronic back pain, so the weather out there is a LOT more agreeable with my back.
I'm not too keen on the probably horrendous beds in res, but I was wondering if anyone could offer me any insight?

Last night at the U of C's Den, a girl got verbally abused in the upstairs bathroom, which lead to her getting beat up, unprovoked.
The girl was described as about 5"5, wearing glasses, wavy light brown, chin length hair, wearing a white tank top and heels. She was very hostile and verbal. If anyone has any information, please contact the police or campus security.
